Tour de Fleece: I’M IN!
So I decided to do Tour de Fleece this year. Yes, I am a really special kind of crazy, but I need something that’s going to kick my ass and make me a better spinner. I have three goals.
1. Finish the ecru Blue Faced Leicester for my mom’s cowl. (This is more than halfway there, and it’s chunky. I can totally do it.)
2. Finish the four ounces of lovely space-dyed merino that I’ve been working on for ages, and Navajo ply. I’ve already done a bit of this, and it’s about a worsted weight post-plying. (this might be a smidge dicey, but could still happen.)
3. Make a BIG dent in my glorious gradient yak/silk/Optim merino fiber. (I already have about half a spindle spun of this, and I think I’m getting the hang of it. It’s a temperamental blend, but I think I can still do it!)
For those of you who aren’t spinners (or who don’t Internet stalk spinners.) the Tour de Fleece is an online spinning event that coincides with the Tour de France. I guess because both involve wheels? You set spinning goals for yourself, trying to challenge yourself and learn new things. I’m all about both of these things, so I’m not going to be deterred by the fact that I’m a very new spinner and seriously lacking in the skills department. In the next few days, I’ll give you details on my projects, but for now, viva la fleece!
