Dear blog friends,
So I have decided that I have too much yarn.
This may seem like a contradiction in terms (too much yarn. psh.) but, the truth is that I only have one small storage bin where I can keep the stuff. There’s really nowhere else for it to go, as my apartment is quite wee, and I have four roommates who also need places to put things. This means that I have extremely limited space, and I have really been ignoring the constraints that this (should) place on my yarn buying. I’m not usually an impulse buyer, but with yarn, I see something pretty and I have to have it. This has led to my stash ballooning somewhat, and I am running out of space. SO, it is resoved, that Lolly shall not buy ANY yarn, for at least the next three months. I will allow a few emergency purchases for gifts, but for any gift, I must first look in the stash, and try to figure something out with the yarn that I already have. Only after this has failed, am I allowed to go buy yarn. In addition, I must make a concerted effort to diminish the size of my sock yarn stash. It’s getting entirely out of hand. Tomorrow I will take some pictures, so that you guys can see what, exactly, I’m working with. I really have quite a nice stash, I just want to sit on it and hoard it like a dragon, not use it up. But, with this effort, I will teach myself discipline and self-denial, while also feeling extremely virtuous about clearing space in my little bin. I don’t normally go in for resolutions, but this one is more emergency legislation. If I don’t stop buying yarn, it’s going to be a PROBLEM. So keep me honest guys! I’m going to want to cheat on my diet 😛 I have named my project the Yarn Dragon Initiative, and I will give you guys updates on how it’s going. Hopefully my will is strong enough to resist the lure of beautiful fibre, but I think (at least to start) that I’m just going to have to avoid temptation.
